Fall 2009
Dear friends and family,
With our takeoff under a month away, we feel we are ready to go on this journey for which God has been preparing us. We have witnessed and experienced His goodness and faithfulness in the months and weeks leading up to this moment.
We purchased our tickets on September 7, 2009 and will be flying out of New York on October 28, 2009 to our first destination- Israel. As we come nearer to our date of departure, God has been fine tuning our hearts to be vessels of love that plant seeds wherever we go.
Being challenged to walk in new levels of faith has been a stretching experience for both of us. God has been stripping away the dirt and grime daily. Amidst our preparation He has been bringing new revelation into our hearts of His wonderful love and mercy. We are both so very thankful for all of your prayers and support. Every single word of encouragement, every prayer uttered, every dollar given- all of these are a blessing. They help us to remember that God is guiding and providing for us as we walk into a new journey in life.
So, where are we headed? First we are going to Israel, specifically Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Here we will be exploring, sight seeing, preparing, and praying for almost a week. Next we will be heading to Cairo, Egypt for under a week to once again explore, sight see, and search for some Christians living among the trash dumps as well as a cave. And we definitely can’t resist seeing the pyramids! After Egypt we are heading to Eastern Africa; we will primarily be based out of Uganda and hope to spend time in Kenya as well. We are also praying about Sudan, if God should will it. We should be in this area of Africa for around 3 months. From Uganda we will be heading to Mozambique for 3 weeks to work with Iris Ministries (Heidi Baker). Then, we are taking a short break and spending some time in South Africa for 2 weeks. After our break we are flying into New Delhi, India, from where we are planning to travel to Kolkata to do some work with the poor. Pray that God would open more doors for us while we are there, considering our plan for this time is still very minimal. From India we go to Bangkok, Thailand for a month, where we are staying with a friend. Once again, pray that God would open doors for us during this time. We will also be looking at getting into Myanmar for a couple of weeks while we are in the area to help out a Christian family. Keep that in your prayers as well! After Asia, our last two stops will be taken in Australia and New Zealand for about a month each, where we hope to get connected with YWAM.
While we have done as much planning as we can thus far, we realize that plans have a tendency to change when traveling internationally. We know God has a way of closing doors and opening new ones. Pray for flexible hearts and the ability to give up our own plans and desires to follow His.
Once again, we want to stress how good and faithful and loving God has been during our preparation for this trip. He has brought so many amazing people into our lives that have offered counsel, guidance, contacts, encouragement, and support. God cares so much about our lives; He cares about all of the big and small details. What an amazing Father He is!
