Children of Kenya
Sorry it’s been so long. Due to the circumstances and location of stay, we haven’t had internet for a while, and I failed to update before leaving Uganda. My bad! But no worries, we’re still alive and well. And I apologize ahead of time, because I think this one will be short.
Where do I even begin? Let’s see… We went to a town called Mbarara from November 30 to December 2 to hang out with some ex-street kids at a compound, Adullam, which is right outside the town. They house quite a few of them and we had an incredible (although short) time with them - talking, encouraging, playing futbol, praying, learning of their dreams… We were also able to visit the slums where some of their families still live. It’s an amazing ministry with some amazing staff we really got to conect with. We hope to return in January if the Lord wills it, because we feel we can establish some solid, longer term relationships with these kids, who are mostly in their young to mid teens. We loved them, and really felt God had sent us there for a reason.
I’m already running out of time so here’s some brief insight into our time in Kenya. We are currently staying at Harvest Blessing Centre, which is connected to a church back home in PA. After arriving in Nairobi (after a 14 hour bus ride) on Friday, we spent a night there before going to a small town, Karugoya, where we ministered with two pastors from home for the weekend (John Paul Peter and Howard). We had a powerful time there, then went back to Nairobi on Monday, and from there to our current home in a small town, Ngoliba (prounounced “Goliba”). We are housed with around 28 crazy, energetic kids, ranging from about 3 to 8 years old. It’s going to be an amazing experience, being there for almost a month. So far we’ve been spending lots of time with the kids (they love feeling my hair and stroking my beard), and getting into some chores around the compound. Yesterday we learned how to wash clothing by hand! So, here we are, in Kenya with a bunch of amazing little kids. They’re teaching me Swahili very fast!
There’s a ton more I could write, believe me, but I think I need to get going. Sorry if there’s misspellings, I don’t have to time check! Hopefully I’ll be able to update again soon. I was going to put pictures up but I’m simply short on time.
God bless those who are still reading! And everyone else of course, haha.
Over and out from Kenya!
